Specialized Roval Traverse SL Fattie 29 148
$1,600.00
Trail wheels often fall into two categories—they’re either heavy and durable or light and flexy. And because of this, a lightweight, wide-profile, and enduro-ready carbon wheel seems like something only found in a fairytale, but lucky for you, we made it a reality. The Traverse SL Fattie 29 puts all the features you need in an all-mountain wheel into one package, and it has the results to prove it. Along with light overall weight, stiffness, and durability, another top priority for the Traverse SL was ease of use. First off, we got rid of the creaky straight-pull spokes and corrosion-prone alloy nipples. Next up, we landed on 28 J-bend spokes, for both the front and rear wheels, that are all the same length—making it easy to find replacements if needed. And finally, we engineered a new hub design, with a wider profile and higher flange to aid in overall stiffness. What's with the big-boned name, you ask? The Traverse SL Fatties may be wide, but with a 30mm inner rim width, they’re far from the girth of a fat bike rim. But let's talk width. You've probably noticed that mountain bike rim widths have hovered between 19 and 23 millimeters for decades, and they've been long overdue for a change. In the search for a better wheel design, our engineers began testing 2.3- to 2.5-inch tires on 45-millimeter-wide fat bike rims to see what, if any, benefits could be found. It only took them a few rides to realize that the wider rims offered a variety of advantages, like adding additional tire volume, which better supports the tires in hard cornering, greatly improves traction because of the ability to run lower pressures, and noticeably increases rim stiffness. They did note that there is an occurrence of diminishing returns with increasing width, however, and after testing everything from 25 to 45mm, determined that a 30mm inner width is optimal. After determining the width, we began designing the rim using the knowledge that we gained when developing the Control SL. With this, we started with our Zero Bead Hook technology that gets rid of the weak spot found in a traditional wheel, and combined it with the wider profile to make a carbon rim that effectively dissipates forces. This way, you can take abuse from rocks without the worry of cracks or dents. Ok, so they’re strong, impact-resistant, and tire supporting—they must be heavy, right? Wrong. Even though “fattie” is in their name, they're far from fat. To achieve this weight, we hand-build our rims to our own alloy hubs, using only the highest quality DT Swiss Competition Race spokes. Inside our hubs, you'll find DT Swiss 240 internals with a quick engaging 54t DT Swiss star ratchet system in the rear that allows you to power over rocks and roots without delay. And while machines do a pretty good job of building wheels, we choose professionally trained humans because they do so with an artistic touch that makes for minimal flaws. Whether you need a carbon wheelset to get you through an enduro stage or one to shred your local rock garden, the Traverse SL Fattie has you covered.
Specialized Roval Traverse Carbon 148 29-inch Wheelset
$1,200.00
The trails in our neck of the woods get pretty hairy, pretty fast, so we've found them to be the perfect testing ground for fast and tough wheels like our Traverse 29 Carbon. The steep climbs and descents helped inspire some pretty radical designs, and most importantly, left us with no doubt that these wheels will exceed your expectations. Let's talk about those expectations. They include everything from the ability to stay true after launching off drops to being light enough to efficiently pedal to the top of a climb—and they all begin with the rim. Our engineers knew they wanted carbon fiber, and with the inclusion of our Zero Bead Hook design, they were able to implement a continuous fiber layup across the sidewall and rim bed. And when paired with a whopping 30-millimeter internal rim width, you get a wheel that's super resilient to impact with low rolling resistance and incredible traction. You'll also find that it helps prevent "burping" during hard cornering while making tubeless set up quick and easy. A wider rim does a variety of things for ride performance—it better supports the tire for increased confidence and grip, and it affords you the ability to run lower pressures to aid in the aforementioned, as well as spreading impact out over a larger surface area to reduce the risk of damage during impact. And when you combine this girth with the notoriously fast rolling 29 platform, you’re left with an incredibly stiff, quick to accelerate wheelset that climbs just as well as it shreds descents. After designing the perfect trail rim, we kept our lightweight and durable design properties in mind with the wheel build, hand-lacing the rims DT Swiss 350 Classic hubs via 28 (front) and 28 (rear) DT Swiss Competition Race spokes and brass Pro Lock nipples. Inside, you'll find sealed cartridge bearings and a 36t quick engagement ratchet system for quick accelerations. We also wanted to ensure that each wheel was built correctly, and we found that this could only be achieved by hand. Machines, we found, have a tendency to miss little mistakes that humans would otherwise catch. Finally, with the 15x110 / 12x148mm variant, you receive all of the benefits that Boost spacing offers. By increasing the width of the front and rear hub flanges, and in turn, increasing frame and fork clearance and stiffness, you obtain a stiffer, stronger, and more durable system at a minor weight penalty. Each wheelset comes packaged with a SRAM XD driver, 11-speed freehub, and a tubeless valve stem in order to make tubeless set-up a touch easier. *Please note that Shimano freehubs are sold separately. - Rim Type: Carbon clincher, 2Bliss Ready, Zero Bead Hook design. Black graphic under clear coat. - Rim Material: Carbon fiber - Rim Width: 30mm internal - Front Spoke Pattern: Two-cross - Rear Spoke Pattern: Two-cross - Spoke Count: 28h Front, 28h Rear -Spoke Type: DT Swiss Competition Race - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Brass Pro Lock hexagonal - Front Hub: DT Swiss 350 Classic, 28h, 15x110mm thru-axle, 6-bolt, includes 15x110mm 19mm OD endcaps - Rear Hub: DT Swiss 350 Classic, 28h, 36t quick engagement ratchet system cassette, includes SRAM XX1 XD freehub - Includes 31mm OD end caps for the front hub - Bearing Type: Sealed cartridge - Every wheel includes a tubeless valve stem in order to make tubeless set-up a touch easier. - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Total Wheelset Weight: 1800g
Specialized Roval Traverse Fattie 38 27.5 148
$650.00
At the helm of taking traction, stability, speed, and stiffness to new heights stands the Roval Traverse Fattie 38 27.5 wheels. And while, yes, they feature a lightweight alloy rim and a quality build, what turns them into descending machines is the 38mm internal rim width. Let's find out why. The reason behind this is easy: Aside from the lightweight and ultra-rugged E5 alloy construction, the combination of the rim width with wider hub flanges creates an increase in plus-sized tire volume. This means that you get more suppleness in the ride quality. But not only this, the ample width also better supports the tire, so you'll experience less "burping" when riding tubeless, as well as a drastic increase in traction. Along with light overall weight, stiffness, and durability, another top priority for the Traverse was ease of use. First off, we got rid of the creaky straight-pull spokes and corrosion-prone alloy nipples. Next up, we landed on 28 J-bend spokes, for front and rear wheels, that are all the same length—making it easy to find replacements if needed. And finally, we engineered a new hub design, with a wider profile and higher flange to aid in overall stiffness. These aren't just a one-trick pony, though. At the front hub, you'll get a 15x110mm thru-axle (end cap options included), and at the rear, the 148mm hub features DT Swiss internals for lightning-fast engagement and acceleration. And to top everything off, these wheels are hand-built to ensure the perfect tension and a long lifespan. Whether you've just picked up a new 27.5+ bike, or you're curious to try out high-volume tires, like a 2.8", on your Boost™-spaced 29er, the Traverse 38 Fattie 27.5 wheels will leave you impressed after the first spin.
Roval Roval Control 29 148
$650.00
When you think of lightweight XC wheels, aluminum probably doesn't come to mind. In reality, though, high-grade alloy wheels have all of the tremendous performance properties found in carbon, like light overall weight, durability, and resilience to impact. And when made with the right hands, they're perfect for competitive racers and everyday trail riders alike. The problem is that, while many carbon wheels can check these boxes with ease, most alloy wheels don't live up to these expectations. In the case of the Control 29 wheels, however, there’s finally an aluminum wheelset that's truly ready to race. What sets the Control 29 wheels apart is that they share many of the same advanced technologies as our carbon version, the Control SL. They adopt the same rim shape with a 25-millimeter inner width, extensive on-trail testing, and our Zero Bead Hook technology. Our Zero Bead Hook rim takes away the dated mountain wheel design known as a bead hook. This hook is the part of the rim that crests at the top, sitting several millimeters inward from the rim’s sidewall, and it catches the tire’s bead under its hook. We know this may not sound too bad, but the hook establishes a weak spot in the rim that's easily crushed or bent. Without a hook, a rim can be manufactured to much tighter tolerances and can be made lighter due to the hook not needing to be reinforced. For these wheels, this means that we're able to nearly equal the strength of carbon, while also making them lighter than many carbon wheels. More importantly, a Zero Bead Hook all but gets rid of the aforementioned weak spot in the rim that's plagued riders with flat spots and dents for decades. If you happen to be one of those riders that enjoys riding your four-inch travel XC bike like it’s a six-inch trail bike, you’re in luck. Our objective of low weight and reliability, at an accessible price, also carries into the Control 29 build. We hand-build each rim to our alloy hubs, which feature DT Swiss internals at the rear and a design that allows for the same spoke lengths at both front and rear, via perfectly tensioned DT Swiss Revolution J-Bend spokes and Pro Lock nipples. We fully support the art of hand-building and do so with our wheels, knowing that real people can catch things that a machine simply cannot. - Rim Type: Alloy clincher, 2Bliss Ready, Zero Bead Hook design - Rim Material: E5 high-strength alloy - Rim Width: 25mm internal - Front Spoke Pattern: Two-cross - Rear Spoke Pattern: Two-cross - Spoke Count: 28h Front, 28h Rear - Spoke Type: DT Swiss Competition Race J-bend - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Alloy Pro Lock hexagonal - Front Hub: Alloy body, 15mm thru-axle, 19 and 31mm OD end cap options included. - Rear Hub: CNC-machined alloy body, high-quality DT Swiss 360 internals, 148mm spacing, XD driver body. - Roval Engineered J-bend hubshells have a single spoke length for each wheelset. - Bearing Type: Sealed cartridge - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Every wheel includes tubeless valve stems in order to make tubeless set-up a touch easier. - Total Wheelset Weight: 1690g
Roval CLX 32 Disc—650b Set
$1,700.00
While the CLX 32 rim is the lightest and most aero in its category, there's much more to it than that. It’s a durable, 2Bliss Ready, and wide-profiled carbon rim that’s ready to take on any adventure. Because of this, we developed the CLX 32 650b Disc wheelset. We wanted to create a lightweight wheel that works well with plus-sized tires—one that could also be used on anything from tarmac to gravel. And yes, while many opt to use mountain bike wheels for this application, there are various advantages to choosing the CLX 32 650b Disc. First off, while most mountain wheels have hubs that are convertible to various axle standards, not many are convertible to the 12mm road thru-axle standard. Secondly, mountain wheels often come with either a SRAM XD driver, a Shimano 11-speed mountain, or 10-speed road freehub, making them incompatible with contemporary 11-speed road cassettes. And lastly, most mountain wheels use standard six-bolt disc brake hubs, rather than the Center Lock hubs found on most road applications. With a 21mm internal width, however, the CLX 32 650b Disc features an inner width that’s consistent with many XC-oriented mountain bike wheels, so it pairs well with 650+ road and gravel tires. And with the 42-47mm tires associated with 650+, the tire and rim interaction is equally as important as the tire itself—too narrow of a rim and you’re left with an overly-rounded profile; too wide and the tread is too squared off. In either situation, you're going to get poor handling characteristics. Each CLX 32 650b Disc set also uses the legendary CeramicSpeed bearings and comes with our padded wheelbag, quick-release, tubeless plugs, and tubeless valves. - Rim Type: Carbon clincher, 2Bliss-Ready - Rim Material: Carbon - Braking Surface: Disc brake only - Rim Depth: 32mm - Rim Width: 20.7mm internal - Spoke Pattern: One-cross/Two-cross (2:1) - Spoke Count: 24 - Spoke Type: DT Swiss Aerocomp (L)/Aerolite (R) T-head - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Pro Lock hexagonal - Rear Hub: Roval AFD2, Centerlock, CeramicSpeed bearings, DT Swiss 240 internals, 11-speed, quick-release or 142x12mm thru-axle end cap - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Extras: Roval padded wheelbag, Roval steel quick-release, Roval tubeless plugs and tubeless valve,142x12mm thru-axle & quick-release end caps - Wheelset weight: 1290g

Specialized Roval Traverse Fattie 27.5 148
$650.00
In the early design phases of our Traverse Fattie 27.5, we recognized that the number of aluminum wheels that had the prowess to both shred rowdy descents and to provide the efficiency required of our Northern California testing grounds' relentless climbs were far and few between. We also came to realize that trail riders expect certain features in a super nimble, send-it-ready wheelset. And for the price, we found that alloy hit many of these expectations, while also keeping enough jingle-jangle in your wallet for a post-ride beverage. We took the traditional 19- to 23-millimeter standard and moved it out to what we found worked best in testing—a whopping 30mm “Fattie” width. A wide rim does a variety of things for ride performance—it better supports the tire for increased confidence and grip, it affords you the ability to run lower pressures, and it spreads impact out over a larger surface area to reduce the risk of damage. We also added our Zero Bead hook design to the mix, and this ultimately aids in preventing “burps” during hard cornering, while also making tubeless set up quick and easy. After developing what we found to be the perfect alloy trail wheels, we went farther down the perfection path, hand-lacing the rims to our own alloy hubs that allow for the same spoke length throughout the entire wheelset, via 28 DT Swiss Revolution J-Bend spokes and Pro Lock nipples. Inside our hubs, you'll find sealed cartridge bearings and DT Swiss 360 rear internals that'll keep you rolling smoothly for miles. We also wanted to ensure that each wheel was built correctly, so we built them by hand. Each wheelset comes packaged with a SRAM XD-driver and a tubeless valve stem in order to make tubeless set-up a touch easier. Please note that Shimano freehubs are sold separately.

Roval Traverse Fattie 38 650B 148
$600.00
At the helm of taking traction, stability, speed, and stiffness to new heights stands the Roval Traverse Fattie 38 650b wheels with 110mm front and 148mm rear hub spacing. And while their Boost-spacing axle widths give the frame and fork clearance and stiffness that results in a stiffer, stronger, and more durable system at a minor weight penalty, what turns them into descending machines is the 38mm internal rim width. The reason behind this is relatively simple: aside from the lightweight, ultra-rugged E5 alloy construction, the combination of the revolutionary width with wider hub flanges equates to an increase in plus-sized tire volume for more suppleness in the ride quality. Not only this, but the ample width also better supports the tire, meaning that you'll experience less "burping" when riding tubeless, as well as a drastic increase in traction. These aren't just a one-trick pony, however. Whether you have just picked up a new plus-sized 650b bike, or you're curious to try out three-inch tires on your Boost- spaced 29er, the Traverse 38 Fattie 650b wheels will leave you impressed after the first spin. - Rim Type: Alloy clincher, Zero Bead Hook design, 2Bliss Ready - Rim Material: E5 high-strength alloy - Rim Width: 38mm internal - Front Spoke Pattern: Radial/Three-cross (2:1) - Rear Spoke Pattern: Three-cross (1:1) - Spoke Count: 24-hole Front, 28-hole Rear - Spoke Type: DT Swiss Revolution - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Pro Lock hexagonal - Front Hub: alloy body, 15x110mm thru-axle only—15mm end caps included - Rear Hub: CNC-machined alloy body, high-quality DT 360 internals, includes SRAM XX1 11-speed freehub and 148 end caps - Compatible with Shimano 10- and 11-speed freehub bodies—sold separately. - Bearing Type: Sealed cartridge - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Total Wheelset Weight: 1870g - No rider weight limit.

Roval Hardrock 29 Wheelset
$150.00
29ers are all about speed, and the Hardrock 29 wheelset delivers on this in spades—no matter if you're just getting started or you're a seasoned trail rider. The wheels have been built tough to meet the rigors of mountain biking head-on, while the ample wheel size guarantees a fast-rolling good time. They features a durable, double-wall alloy rim construction that adds strength without stacking on the weight, and to ensure that you'll be able to stop once you get motoring, the wheels are both disc- and rim-brake compatible. High value just met high performance. - Disc-compatible hubs can also be used with traditional rim brakes. - Double-wall rims are strong and durable. - Machined braking surface creates superior stopping power in any condition. - Stainless spokes won't rust, easing long-term maintenance. - 8-/9-speed cassette rear hub provides plenty of gearing options for climbing and riding the flats.
Roval CL 50 Wheelset
$1,750.00
After designing the CLX 50s, we realized that an affordable, race-worthy carbon wheelset was nowhere to be found—until the CL 50 was developed, that is. We paired our quiver-killing CLX 50 rim with DT Swiss Competition round spokes, our Aero Flange hubs with DT Swiss 350 internals, and steel bearings to deliver you an exceptional wheelset at a more than accessible price. Sharing rims with the CLX 50s, the CL 50s feature many of the benefits as their higher-end siblings. Even though the CL 50 is similar in weight to many wheels in the “lightweight” category, aerodynamics came at the forefront of the development. With this, we jumped headlong into Computational Fluid Dynamics computer modeling to arrive at various rim shapes that could make the CL 50 as fast and light as possible. It took a while, but we narrowed the rim shape down to three contenders that were then CNC machined into rims, built into wheels, and put into the Win Tunnel. In the tunnel, we tested every wheel, ours and the competition's, with a 24C tire (measuring 26C), as tires can drastically affect testing. We chose a modern-width tire to design our rims around, because they not only allow for less tire pressure (which results in more comfort and less rolling resistance) but are also just as aerodynamically efficient when paired with the correct rim width. Now it was time for final testing validation. The result? A 50mm-deep, 1465-gram clincher wheelset that's race-ready and wallet-friendly. - Rim Type: Carbon clincher, 2Bliss-Ready - Rim Material: Carbon - Braking Surface: Carbon Fiber - Brake Track Height: 12mm - Rim Depth: 50mm - Rim Width: 20.7mm internal, 29.4mm external - Front Spoke Pattern: Radial - Rear Spoke Pattern: Radial/Two-cross (2:1) - Spoke Count: 16 front, 21 rear - Spoke Type: DT Swiss Competition Race T-head - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Pro LockBrass hexagonal - Front Hub: Roval AF1, sealed cartridge bearings - Rear Hub: Roval AF1, sealed cartridge bearings, DT Swiss 350 internals, 11-speed - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Extras: Roval steel quick-releases, Roval tubeless plugs and valves, SwissStop Black Prince brake pads
Specialized Roval Traverse Fattie 29 148
$650.00
In the early design phases of our Traverse Fattie 29, we recognized that the number of aluminum wheels that had the prowess to both shred rowdy descents and to provide the efficiency required of our Northern California testing grounds' relentless climbs were far and few between. We also came to realize that trail riders expect certain features in a proper, send-it-ready wheelset. And for the price, we found that alloy hit many of these expectations, while also keeping enough jingle-jangle in your wallet for a post-ride beverage.
Roval Traverse SL Fattie 29
$1,500.00
Fattie, big-boned—titles aside, just think of Roval's Traverse SL 29 mountain bike wheels as wide. The reason is behind this simple: With a wide, 30mm internal carbon rim, these wheels dramatically increase both stability and traction, which all boils down to more control. The extra width allows for more tire volume, which means more suppleness in the ride quality. And not only this, but the ample width also better supports the tire, meaning that you'll experience less "burping" when riding tubeless. These wheels also include the Roval tubeless plug system, which is an easy and super lightweight solution for tubeless setups. At the front hub, you'll get a thru-axle design with 15/20mm compatibility (end cap options included), and at the rear, the hub features DT Swiss internals for lightning-quick engagement and acceleration. And to top everything off, these wheels are hand-built to ensure a painstaking attention to detail.
