Tip of the Month
When lubing your chain be sure to use the right lube for your needs. There are two basic types of lube on the market:
Dry Lube – Dry lube is usually alcohol based. This almost water-like lube is your cleanest choice. The alcohol is a transport for the Teflon to be distributed on all pins and rollers of the chain, when it evaporates leaving just the Teflon, it will not attract dust as oil-based lubes will do.
Wet Lube – Wet lube is oil based. It's your best choice in conditions that are wet or muddy, as oil repels water. Don’t get messy. Always wipe the chain down before applying lube. Then use the dropper bottle to drop one drop per link. This will assure not too much or too little.
There are some great brands out there, but our shop favorite dry lube is Rock''N''Roll lube. Our shop's favorite oil-based lube is Triflow.

With gas prices getting ridiculous, one way to combat the prices at the pump is to pump your pedals to work. BACA is a local non-profit organization that promotes getting around by bicycle. Visit their site at http://www.bacar.org/ for tips on bicycle commuting and routes around our city to do so.
